Lead Pastor Position

We long to reach new families, disciple believers of all ages, and create a church home where relationships flourish, leaders are raised up, and the gospel advances locally and globally. We are seeking a Lead Pastor who will join this mission, champion a culture of faith and unity, and help guide our church as we build a better story together.

  • The primary role includes preaching and teaching God’s Word, praying for the congregation, and providing vision and direction for the church.

  • The secondary role includes evangelism, visitation (hospitals and homes), stewardship, and pastoral care.

  • The role is part-time and will take 20+ hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A growing relational faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who has been immersed (baptized) as a believer. Committed to growing closer to the Lord in personal holiness and evangelical in conviction.

  • A life marked by integrity and Christian character.

  • Experience in preaching and teaching effectively, as well as experience managing volunteers. This role requires a person who relates well to people of different ages and backgrounds.

  • A strong knowledge of Bible doctrine and be able to communicate it well and not teach contrary to the parameters of the Baptist Faith & Message (2000).

  • Desire to help the congregation grow in understanding the Bible and living out the Christian faith.

  • Preferably a master’s degree (in divinity, or Christian ministry, or something similar) or be working toward such a degree, or equivalent in experience.

  • Five plus years of experience in at least part-time ministry situations with at least five years of preaching/teaching experience in the local church.

  • A desire to teach and mentor others and build ministry teams.

  • Be aware of local needs and attempt to find ways the church can interact and serve.

  • Utilize technology for communication, tracking, and administration to be more efficient and effective.

  • Ability to pass a background check.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church.

  • A commitment to the mission of the church.

  • A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan preaching schedule in advance and communicate text/theme with the music pastor/creative team.

  • Schedule guest preachers as needed.

  • Teach / oversee mid-week ministries

  • Develop an outreach plan for church growth

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive ministry plan that leads the church in evangelism and missions, discipleship, and faithful stewardship

  • Meet with the Stewardship Commission for budgeting and review

  • Ensure background checks for staff and adult volunteers every three years

  • Lead “one vision” campaign and expansion program.

  • Connect locally with the Greater Orlando Baptist Association, at the state level with the Florida Baptist Convention, and, if interested, the national level with the Southern Baptist Convention
