Welcome to Gospel Centered Church! Thank you for taking a few moments to check us out. Here is a little bit about our story and what we believe God has in store for our future.
In 2010 God used two Christian laymen to tell Joel Breidenbaugh about the need for an evangelical church in the north side of Apopka. There had been significant growth and even more was planned. Although a few interest meetings occurred over the next few years, nothing ever materialized to begin a new work.
Fast forward 7 years: God used a series of events to demonstrate to Joel the ongoing need for an evangelical church in the North Apopka area. On August 20, 2017, the Lord brought 21 people together rather spontaneously for a time of prayer, encouragement and worship. The first planned meeting the following week witnessed 75 people gather in anticipation of God doing something special.
Gospel Centered Church has continued to grow and we are seeing new people each week. We have growing children’s and youth ministries. Our contemporary worship service is making progress each week. We aim to offer solid, biblical teaching which is relevant for people’s lives. Specifically, we target being Gospel Centered in all we do. We believe the Bible reveals 4 key components about the gospel:
- God is Creator and He is holy—God has created humans in His image and given them a holy Law, based on His holy character.
- Mankind is sinful—each one of us has fallen in sin and is separated from the holy God. We are far more than spiritually sick, for we are spiritually blind (2 Corinthians 4:4), spiritually lost (Luke 15) and spiritually dead (Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1). In short, we are hopeless on our own.
- God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to redeem sinners—He came to live a sinless life, die in the place of sinners and rise from the dead to prove He is Lord. Jesus is the Savior and He is Lord of all.
- Sinners must repent from sins and trust in Christ for salvation—this two-fold response to the gospel of God’s grace in Christ is absolutely necessary for salvation. Repentance from sin and Lordship salvation are at the heart of the gospel (unfortunately, many churches omit these crucial issues).
While more can be unpacked about the gospel, these elements provide a summary of what the Bible teaches. We strive to explain these matters weekly and offer implications for our lives.
As we grow, we have a mission to reach our immediate community with the gospel. We want to share the good news and meet people’s needs. We also plan to branch out in the future to establish more opportunities to serve under-reached communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We would love for you to come and check us out. Maybe the Lord is calling you to be on mission at a new church to help us reach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask us. We hope to see you soon!
